South Kordofan State Governor, Maj.Gen. Abdul Hamid Rashad Ismail lauded the efforts of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the fight against COVID-19 through providing the services that boost the peace, security and stability in all the states of Sudan.
He added, while addressing the launching ceremony of RSF health convoy at Freedom Park in Kodugli, that the convoy comes within supporting the national efforts in the fight against COVID-19, affirming the need of the state to more support in health aspects which he described as fragile.
He said that the issue requires from the transitional government to exert all possible efforts to provide services in all aspects.
“The war caused suffering to the people and resulted to displacement a matter that requires more efforts from the government, civil society, and the organizations working in humanitarian fields to provide assistance to improve the health sector in the state” he added.
For his part, the commander of the RSF health convoy, Col. Mohammed Al-Hassan Mohammed Ahmed said that the convoy is an extension to the RSF social responsibility initiative according to the directives of the 1st Vice President of the Sovereign Council, RSF Commander-in-Chief, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohammed Hamdan Daglo.
He expressed appreciation to the government of South Kordofan for the hospitality and welcoming the convoy, affirming the preparedness of the convoy to exert all efforts to curb the COVID-19 pandemic.
For his part, Director General of Ministry of Health and Social Development in South Kordofan State, Dr. Saif Addeen Al-Hassan Zakariya said that the convoy comes within the framework of supporting the health issues particularly the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, pointing out the it is an important message at a time when the states is aspiring the dawn of peace.
Dr. Saif said that the Ministry is ready to receive any initiative that contribute in improving the health services considering that the health sector is working under emergency since long time.
