First Vice President (FVP) of the Transitional Sovereign Council, 1st Lt. Gen. Mohamed Hamdan Daglo lauded the role of the UNAMID in Darfur during the recent period.
He commended, during his receiving in his office at the Republican Palace the UNAMID acting Chief and the resident representative of the mission in Sudan, Bubakr Sisi, the efforts exerted by the UNAMID in providing humanitarian assistance to the affected people during the recent incidents in Al-Genaina city , promising to ease any difficulties facing the mission.
For his part, Bubakr Sisi affirmed in press statements the readiness of the UNAMID to provide package of humanitarian assistance to the IDPs and those affected by the recent incidents in Al-Genaina, pointing out that the mission is facing logistic difficulties , adding that they asked the Sudanese government to resolve it.
He added that the FVP affirmed the support of the government to the efforts of the UNAMID and easing its mission in providing assistance to the affected citizens and the return of the IDPs to their home villages, pointing out that his meeting with the FVP discussed the cooperation of the UNAMID with the local leaderships in Darfur till its exit on the 30th of next June.
